The public
relations professional practical module requires that one go for internship
placement in a bid to give students a practical feel of PR in the real world.
This gives the intern the opportunity to learn how the industry
operates as well as learning the logistics of the media industry.
Due to this requirement, I had the
opportunity to undergo an internship with the 8TV, one of the television
stations in Malaysia under the supervision of Ms. Tianne Ramona Pereira who is a PR Executive / Writer for urban section.
My eight weeks internship placement
proved to be the best experience, as I happened to be part of a dynamic,
hardworking and most of all most helpful and cooperative staff of 8tv public
relation section. This was more of an eye opener for a learner like me because
I learnt a lot concerning public and media relations and how they operate. It
was during my training as an intern that I became exposed to media strategic
planning and media advertising and this gave me the experience to sharpen my
writing skills. The internship also gave me exposure to the logistics of event
management.
I also got the opportunity to work with
the media events planners within the company and due to their support; I
managed to be part of the group that planned the showdown press conference,
Revenge press conference, showdown 2012 auditions and 8tv anniversary birthday
bash.

I guess press conferences were a good exposure because as a PR Officer the media should be your best friend so that you can feed them with the right information at all times.
May I know how you apply?
