On the day it was my responsibility to update the Facebook Event Page for the walk announcing the open of registrations, commencement of the walk and a thank you to attendees. I was also responsible for liaising with the media and taking their contact details for future reference. Other than that there was plenty of time to enjoy the day and pet lot's of dogs!
I am yet to return to the office for a debrief and evaluation session which I imagine to be a great learning experience and provide insight of how I can improve social media campaigns in the future. Had there not been such a large workload in my other units I could have perhaps designated more time to the promotion of the event however the outcome did not seem to be effected too much.
In conclusion I found my time at the RSPCA WA incredibly enjoyable and I would like to thank my supervisor Laura Stevenson for being incredibly helpful and understanding. Working towards an event to this scale gave me real purpose throughout my time and this will be considered when applying for positions in the future.

I enjoyed reading your blog Tegan, it must have been such a great feeling to see all your hard work come together and be apart of the event day.
I didn't have much of an evaluation session at the end of my internship which on reflection I think I should have requested more feedback. It can be such a fine line to know whether your being too demanding on your internship manager, as we all know how busy they are. I hope yours goes well and that you get some valuable feedback that helps you kick off your career.
Congratulations Tegan! It is such a great feeling to see all your hard work come together and have the event be such a great success.
I was lucky enough to have a small evaluation meeting with my supervisor at the end of my internship - it was so beneficial to know exactly how I was going and what her thoughts were on my performance. Evaluation is so important to ensure that you understand what went well and what needs improvement, as well as personal thoughts on career prospects. Having a debrief after such an important event will allow you to learn about the process and you'll be able to take those skills to any position that you gain after graduation.
A huge congratulations to you! This was so exciting to read as I was one of the 9000 participants.
I must admit that prior to reading your blog, attending the event and working on event management within my internship, I didn't realise how much work actually goes into such a big event.
It's also great to hear that you get to take part in a debrief and evaluation session. That is one aspect that you can take into any job that you go to, the importance and value of debrief and evaluation! It would be interesting to see what evaluation methods the RSPCA uses to evaluate the success of the event!
It is also such a great thing to have on your CV! Again a major congratulations to yourself and the RSPCA on such a fantastic event!
