Almost Finished!

For those of you who missed my first blog post, I am currently completing it at The Urban List during the winter break which has been AMAZINNGGG.
Im doing three days a week here and they are giving me so much responsibility and so many new and exciting tasks to do and I am just loving it!

Before I 'officially' started completing the 20 days for the PR Internship unit I was writing one article a week for the website, completing business listings (putting new businesses on the website) and constantly checking in to see if there were any new tasks I was able to complete. Now that I have been doing three days a week, I arrive to the office every morning with something new to do and even more responsibility than before - it made me super nervous.

This morning I had to write an article about the Pokemon Go App (help me!) and I was also told that I would be helping facilitate a whole campaign with one of the biggest wineries down south. They are asking me to sit in on their content and marketing meetings; contribute to any ideas I may have for the website and new articles; get in contact with existing and potential clients; go to coffee meetings with clients and so much more. As well as being overly excited to be involved in all these things, I was also hit with a feeling of ultimate happiness and I was so thankful that these guys were letting me have such a huge input in all the ideas and processes.

I have been receiving feedback from my supervisor that she is so happy with how I am coming along and states that my communication skills and writing skills have constantly been improving over the past few months. She always checks in to see how I am going and to see if there is anything else that I want to do while I am here as well as constantly challenging my thoughts and ideas - which I love!

I only have one week left of my official 20 days here but I am considering staying on longer (they have asked me to as well which is amazing!) throughout semester two purely for the experience and the fact that I will be learning things that will 1) Help me in all future career paths 2) Help me with amazing workplace confidence levels and 3) Make permanent friends and contacts in the industry that will be more than willing to help me in all my future endeavours.

Day by day the incredible people here and so trusting in me and only want to see the best in me which is so humbling and I can gladly say that they are making me excited to enter the adult workforce world.

Stay tuned,

Shelby

Hi Shelby,

I think it's great that you are enjoying your internship at The Urban List. It seems like you are getting lots of interesting tasks and things that you can put in your portfolio to show future employers.

I actually read one of your articles the other day! I follow The Urban List on Facebook and clicked on your post, and saw your name - it was a great article.

I also think it's great that they're asking you to stay for longer as it shows that they are impressed with what you have done thus far.

Good luck for the rest of your journey :)
