I have been #urbanlisted

I have done a few days at my internship at The Urban List (TUL) office and it has been quite a great time there so far! TUL mainly focuses on online content where they post articles such as 'the best breakfast in Perth', 'Where to get a good massage in the Perth CBD' and articles about current trends such as Pokemon Go. In most articles, TUL mentions businesses so they can gain a greater reach to the public in hope for them to experience more traffic within the business. The Urban List have over 50K followers on Instagram and 45K likes on Facebook. Pretty awesome right?

I have my own desk and share the office with 8 others. It is a relaxed work space and everyone is so friendly and laid back. I have been assigned numerous tasks which includes business outreach, Instagram posting, posting articles to Facebook and salesforce. With business outreach, I am given a spreadsheet where I have to state the name of a business, the article they're included in and the URL which links to the article online. I then transfer that information into a word document and prepare a small message that is then directly sent to the business to notify them about being included in a piece written. I then message them through The Urban Lists sales managers Facebook and let them know that their business has been included in a written piece and include the amount of views from the article and how Urban List can enhance a businesses customer traffic. After this process, I then log into TULs Facebook page and post articles on businesses walls directly.

All new businesses are entered into salesforce so that the Sales Manager has a list of current and future potential clients. Think of it as a massive online phone book!

Instagram posting is my absolute favourite as I get the opportunity to browse Instagram to find some of the coolest pictures to then feature on TUL's page. All photos that are TUL's property are stored in an online filing system called Egnyte. TUL's photographers upload photos to Egnyte so that they can be used on Instagram. However, TUL have strict guidelines in terms of what content is posted. They focus on positive energy within their posts opposed to placing businesses into a negative light and the photos that are used for their posts must be absolutely pristine in quality. Photos cannot be too dark or too bright, they must fit the theme of their page (not too masculine or feminine) and majority of posts must be unisex so that they can appeal to everyone. TUL's main focus is on Perth so most posts showcase food, fashion, landscapes, interiors and events in Perth and sometimes the occasional wunderlast and cute dog photos are included. All photos that aren't TUL's are credited and all posts must include '#urbanlisted' and '#urbanlistperth" (in that order).

So far so good! I love my internship, the office is vibrant and contemporary and the office peeps also make it all worth the fun and experience!

What a great place to be interning! I follow the Urban list on Instagram and love all their posts. Its such a unique page to follow, so its cool to get an insight into how their business operates. You are very lucky to be working in a place that operates all over Australia and in New Zealand! That's a great opportunity for doors to open in your future.
I'm currently interning at PPR in West Perth and we sent the Urban list a spring gift last week, which was really nice to see featured on their page! :)
Hope the rest of your placement time is just as exciting!
