My first week at PPR has been rather interesting and the
whole team has made me feel very welcome especially having my buddy intern
Jodie who is also a Curtin PR student. Knowing about having this internship for
over a month before I started left me so much time to think about it and plan
all these ideas in my head of what it was going to be like, leaving me to create
so many different scenarios in my head making me more and more nervous for the
day to come. In saying that, now that I am here everyone at PPR has made me
feel so welcome and are so lovely which has made settling into this first week
so easy and fun!
This first week has been full of different activities that I
wouldn’t expect to come of across so early or even at all. I’ve done work for a
range of different clients such as McDonalds, Bunnings, IGA and Department 13
all very different companies with different jobs involved. It has been
interesting to see how each day to day differs and people are always facing new
challenges and opportunities.
A big focus this week in the PPR office is to boost their
social media presence in particular focusing on their Instagram account. On my
first day Jodie and I joined what they call ‘the brainstorm table’ where they
sit around and express their ideas people flowing from each other’s thoughts.
The topic was how to boost their social media presence and going forward what
image of the company do they want to portray to their followers.
This then lead to suggestions of what they should and shouldn’t post and how
they wanted to make their account more personalised so that the public could really
get a feel of who and what PPR is all about. It was really interesting to see public
relations happening in its finest form with people who have so much experience
in the industry bouncing ideas off each other. It was a really good way to
start the week and get a feel for what the team at PPR was like and made me
feel that I was in comfortable team environment where I can even speak my own
ideas where appropriate.
