The Author of my BLANK book... Off for a great journey!

“The night before, I could not contain my eagerness but as soon as I stepped in the office the next day, I wished I never had to return there again!”

Many are those who would relate to this type of ‘First Day at Work’ feeling, nonetheless, mine differed completely to that of the others.

Without a doubt, my small stomach too experienced the knots bouncing from left to right and that tight feeling the night preceding the D day kept me awake minute by minute, stressing me out like never before.

Millions of thoughts swarmed around my mind on my way to the office.

“Do they still remember me?” “Will they be glad to see me again?”…

Yeah, you’ve guessed it right, I have interned there previously, but as a Journalism Trainee whose aim was to report on the first ever National Festival of Contemporary Culture organized by that very firm.

That’s it, at the door step already and I was about to get the answers to all the questions that were crossing my mind.

Everyone was downright immersed in their work, busy hitting away at their keyboards, when suddenly big smiles displayed on their faces and that is when I realized that the little girl who joined the team six months back left imprints on the hearts of many and is once again the most welcomed on board.

After a brief introduction of my new missions, I was then shown to my desk… The ‘L’ corner of a long white table shared by five persons already. Honestly, I very much preferred that to an isolated table in the middle of a ‘private’ office – typical corporate settings and ambiances are definitely not my things!

Time was flying and I was fully dedicated in my given tasks (Work which first, had nothing to do with what I accomplished the last time and which were completely alienated to what we are taught in class). The real work had started and I could sense the responsibilities on my shoulders gradually getting heavier and heavier. I knew it was only the beginning and that things shall get intense, especially when taking into account that my Placement Supervisor was out of the country and would have a basket full of duties designed exclusively for me once he would be back.

For that reason, I decided to enjoy every printing, filing and all the little and unimportant tasks I had been assigned, for I knew things would not be the same in the forthcoming days.
Already five, and unlike most interns on their first day, the thought of going back home saddened me: leaving my small but comfortable space and the amazing squad of the last office teared me apart (exaggerating but seriously it did affect me).

This new journey promises to be something full of excitement and enriching lessons that shall serve me for my future… a yet to become Expert in the Communications and Events arena, an Expert who is for the time being an Enthusiast Beginner.

For now, I bid you farewell till the next blog post. Serious things are waiting for me tomorrow and I need rest to attack each and every mission!
