Let's be real, it hasn't been that long, but it's now down to the wire. Since the 15th? it has officially been over a month for my internship at SOPB and boy have I got A LOT to tell you guys.
Well first off? I have only 3 weeks left of Internship and I must say, I'm utilizing my time pretty well. In the next few days? It's gonna be crunch time, as SOPB will be organizing a huge corporate event, and let me tell you? the PR department is on FIRE! Apart from designing for the event and event planning, phones are going off the roof, there is so much to do and we? (mostly myself) are so excited.
But let me go back to the weeks before this, the past few weeks have been AMAZING. Engaged myself in some sweet CSR events organised by the PR department and collaborated with an incredible NGO from Australia called Get Equip'd. I got to engage with many people and really contribute to the community. Did I forget to mention? I'm doing a corporate video for the company as well. How insane is that? The company sent me to estates in the rural areas where they harvest their products and it really exposed me to where the company gets their resources from and it gave me a clear perspective on how to craft my video for the company and really highlight to the public what SOPB has to offer.
It was phenomenal. Aside from that? I got to write more press releases, update the company portal and website with some sweet pictures from the event, media monitoring, did media clippings and ultimately, the experience I gained from the past few weeks? Priceless.
From the CSR events, I got to opportunity to really set foot into the industry and serve.
A CSR event when SOPB sponsored Merris Cooking Oil, a product of the company to SMK Chung Hua for their Annul Charity Sale and Robotics Club.
A CSR event when SOPB sponsored Special Wheelchairs for Special Needs Children at PIBAKIS Miri and Miri General Hospital, and collaborated with Get Equip'd.
I'd be lying if I said that these past few weeks haven't been hectic. I walked into this placement worried that I wouldn't be engaged in much as my initial thought was, I was only gonna be here for less than 2 months. But, Boy am I grateful for the amount of work I have been given. True, it does get a bit overwhelming but I've learned to grow tough skin from this experience. I've learned to really pay close attention to detail when it comes to organizing an event, ensuring that the community gets the best from the company and how to properly manage ones self during a crisis management. I've learned that it is OKAY to be yourself and interact with other people because that's what PR is all about. At the same time I got to see the beautiful side of companies and organizations like SOPB in how they give back to the community which is what I LIVE FOR!
Only a couple weeks left till I leave my booth in the PR office, and with two more events coming up, I really wanna make this count. The enthusiasm might be a tad cheesy for most people, but believe me I am so grateful for what has happened and thrilled for what's to come.
Till next time, Friends.
