Welcome back to my blog.
For those who haven't read my previous post, I am currently in my sixth week of my internship at a boutique events company in Northbridge, Western Australia.
In my sixth week, I was assigned a number of 'hands-on' tasks in the lead up to a breakfast hosted by E&C co.
The tasks included collecting a large bunch of flowers from a local florist who had sponsored the event, guillotining name cards, labelling wine bottles and packing boxes with flyers and name badges.
Most of the day I was assisting the company directors with the minor, more tedious tasks for the next morning's breakfast event. I found I enjoyed the hands-on aspect to event coordinating as it made the day fly by and I felt like I had accomplished a number of tasks by the end of the day.
Preparing for the breakfast was valuable as I learnt what tasks are involved in the lead up to an event, how important the use of lists and highlighters are and the importance of neat presentation particularly when you are presenting to of a number of clients.
Placing stickers on wine bottles was also a nice change from cleaning up contacts in excel spreadsheets!
Welcome to PR Internship - YOUR opportunity to put everything you have learned over the past years at university into practice and to get a thorough insight into what public relations is like "in the real world". This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students. Please also see http://http://printernship-reflections2.blogspot.com.au/ for more reflections.
