Perfect Strangers? Not FOREVER!

The irreplaceable fuel that allows common individuals attaining uncommon outcomes; TEAMWORK! Andrew Carnegie

Back then, we were strangers... It was not forever though!

The Public Relations and Communications fields, undoubtedly, win the title of the most multifaceted vocations which time and again demand thorough collaboration and partaking from its all practionners. Teamwork, although it might have innumerable downfalls, is one of the most efficient tool required in the creation of Communications products, including, websites, social media content, prints, texts, visuals and so forth.

For instance, though being part of the Communications team, in charge of the first ever Newsletter to be published by the organisation equals to immense pride and contentment (Yes! A third year student contributing to the content), on the other hand, it also defines huge responsibility, trust but also irreproachable TEAMWORK:

  •  Definition of the Objectives of the Newsletter that meet the firm’s goals and mission
  • Research
  • Content Creation
  • Proof-Reading
  • Matching Visuals
  • Validation
  •  Publishing
Without the dedicated members of different backgrounds, that is, Designers, Writers, Photographers, Editors and others, banding together to achieve the set communications aims, this very department would have been struggling to cope with the duties attached to it.

Evidently, at first everything was not rosy and wonderful: alike every teams, we too have had our ups (Very few thankfully). Before the Newsletter, we were to mount important Presentations that ought to be shown to Partners. Oops, I forgot to mention, we were the batch of hardworking and flawless interns that every company would want to have (Kidding!). We barely knew each other and already had to join hands to accomplish our given task.

You can clearly guess what a mixture of different personalities, unclear team objectives, and vague team roles resulted in: MASSACRE!

Well, you got it wrong!!!

Not only did we work together taking into account all the viewpoints of each and every one, but like an irreproachable team, we established concise team objectives, ensured the brainstorming of ideas that shall light up the whole content, managed good communication so as to avoid overlapping of roles and lastly triumphed in completing the Presentation: Which was eventually validated and used by the Director.

Today, although two members of the Communications Gang (My Miss Sunshine and Mister Poitier) have left us (Miss ‘Anyways’ and I), I have to admit that they have been the best team mates I could have ever imagined (Taking into consideration that I might not always work with people I love). We have learnt and grown altogether and every single team task shaped us into a better team member.

To finish, as Dave Kerpen would have said to close this blog post:

The variance from FAILURE to SUCCESS is determined by great TEAMWORK!

Hi Sheevani,

Let me tell you firstly that you have been lucky to get an internship at Move For Art. It is great to work for that company which organised different typical well-known events. I have read your previous post and it seems you have been enjoying your internship there.

Teamwork has always been viewed and assessed under different perspectives according to individuals: some people would prefer to collaborate and work into teams while others would prefer to work alone to avoid any conflicts that may arise. Yet, you have been lucky to have a great team mates to work on both the presentation and the newsletter. Everyone brings out a little contribution to produce a great work in the end.

I really hope you’ve gain a lot of experience there.

Cheers,
