Go Go Day.

Dear Blog,

I know that I have been neglecting you for the past couple of weeks and that it isn't really a good excuse but assignments in Schools are killing me. Fear not, I am here to right my wrongs and fill you up with my very first blog entry.
For PR 393, we have to do a placement unit. The idea of the unit I guess is to 'learn as you work'. Thanks to a recommendation from my friend Wee Yee to my current boss Peter Hesketh, he has invited me to work in his up and coming event - Gogo Retro Vintage and Vinyl Road Show. It is basically a Road Show that showcases Retro, Vintage items.
Peters' first task for me was do research on all the Vintage and Vinyl shops in Perth. He explained that although research was a long, tedious and boring job, it is absolutely essential for our road show because some of these shops are going to be our the show.
I have always considered myself as a person who knows his way around the Internet so I was thinking "How is research going to be hard with the Internet?" Boy, was I wrong. True to the their Retro, Vintage and Vinyl business model, a lot of these shops do not have websites and I had to go on forums to do my research. I shouldn't go into specifics but my researched involved a lot of starting of threads and a lot of getting ignored on them. As Peter said, long, tedious and boring... I should have believed him.
I have chaired and held important roles in sports clubs and charity fund-raisers before. What I haven't done is to play support in events planning. I realized that I have been taking my support colleagues for granted because it is tough ass hell. To my support colleagues working with me in 'Singapore LAH' and 'Blacks Fun Touch' 'mad respect'.

Hey Akira,

Firstly, I really enjoyed your company as a co-worker in Go Go Retro! Secondly, I do like your style of writing this blog entry.

Because we're both covering different duties, I never got to really understand what your job scope is about. Sure sounds like a tedious one. But without all your valauable research, it would be tough for the rest of the planning to go on. Well I suppose every department of the planning is important for an event to be a success. Hope the event will turn out the best it can be tomorrow! x
