As my degree comes to an end i am left to ponder on the next move in my life. I know this post may be slightly of topic but as my last post i would like to take the chance to reflect on public relations and what i have gained from my experience at university.
After completing three internships and gained paid work experience in Marketing it has come to my attention that my brain is craving more. I know many of my peers are excited to get out into the workplace and begin taking on their role in public relations, journalism or whatever it may be.
I myself feel i have reached an plateau. My studies have equipped me with an array of skills that can be utilised within the business industry and the skills set has proved useful and heightened my analytical skills. A passion of mine the importance of business structure and internal communications I'm predicting to be my forte. This has only come to my attention in the last six months.
Whilst undertaking a more communication based role within the organisation of placement i was able to identify where structure lacks and thus proving where larger problems can occur. I found this experience taught me a lot about myself as an individual in the workplace and what i strive for as a young professional.
I have recognised that the importance of structure and organisation are attributes desired within a leadership group within a firm. Not to say all leaders need to be organised but some identity needs to maintain a sense of structure in order for business to succeed.
Whilst unsure wether to take on extra studies i am thankful to Curtin University and its ability to shape public relations professionals as although some may say the course can seem repetitive it is building us in into professionals that have skills that may seem second nature.
As the report becomes finalised and this last blog is written i would like to ask everyone what is next for them?
Best wishes to all,
Tamika
