WOW, it has been 4 months and my internship is done! The
magazine was released for the season mid April and it was a really proud moment
knowing I was part of the social media and marketing leading up to it.
Reflecting back on my time in this internship I have certainly learnt a lot in
social media marketing and creating content that is reflective of the brand and
image.
Although the magazine is out, my duties are not over! We still have some scheduled posts leading right to the end of June in
reference to the stories in the magazine. I offered to complete them and see them through since I had scheduled everything already.
This internship has been hands on and practical and because of that, I feel grateful to have learnt all that I have with Oh Hello Beaufort. It truly is invaluable to
be in a real life position, dealing with a company/organisations task.
Looking
back, if I could tell any other intern (or myself) heading into an internship, I
would say a few things.
Firstly- Don’t beat yourself up if you make mistakes!
I am
definitely a perfectionist. This means I try to make sure I don’t slip up but
also feel terrible if I do. If you’re like me, accepting that mistakes help you
learn faster is a better way to reflect on them rather than feeling sorry/guilty for
slipping up (of course this depends on the degree of your mishap). There have been a few times where I have slipped up grammatically on
a post and have been told to quickly correct it! It’s pretty embarrassing when
you’re a third year student and making silly spelling mistakes. I wish I could
blame auto correct for suggesting ‘favorite’ instead of ‘favourite’ but truth
is, I should probably know. Small errors like so actually make a big
difference in a post and can reflect poorly on a brand. Since then, I have read
and re read all posts before uploading them to make sure everything is
correct!!! That being said….please don’t
count the number of grammatical errors I have here!
Next, I would say- Never stop trying!
Always look for work to do and think outside the box if doing so. Even if your idea gets passed, you can never be criticised for not trying! Ask questions when you’re unsure and just put your best foot forward to get as much from your experience as possible. There have been many times where my ideas for posts were passed or corrected but every time they were, I gained more of an idea in the types of content, wording and language expected for the brand.

It has definitely been great to see how social media has
become an important tool for PR and Marketing. Social Media and online
communication is definitely the way forward for business and it is exciting to
imagine how technology will encourage business to progress in the next few years.
It was insightful to see it in practice at Oh Hello Beaufort.
Below is the latest edition of the Magazine! How great does the cover look?
