Lunch, Anyone?

Dear Friends,

It has been nearly 2 months interning here and I gotta say, lunch time has never been so rewarding.

To be honest, I always look forward to lunch time. Most of my lunches are with my boss and colleagues.

In my opinion, lunch time is also another way for PR to work. Sometimes we are too fixed upon the stakeholders from outside of our organisation that we tend to forget about the stakeholders within the organisation.

Being able to spend some time with your colleagues during lunch allows you to listen to what they have to say or what they are worried about while working in the company or organisation. Keeping an open communication amongst employees is key to avoiding miscommunication in the workplace.

I now understand that some employees are not comfortable talking about certain issues within the boundaries of the office and it's not like we even have time to talk during office hours. Of course whatever concerns they have, we need to protect their privacy.

And besides, we get to deepen our friendship with our colleagues cause sometimes food taste better when you have company.

A lot of people tend to neglect the importance of internal communications within an organisation. It's good that you've brought this up to remind us of how crucial it is to ensure a well-functioning company. That mee jawa though? Incredible.

YUM Alan!

I couldn't agree more. I think building a strong working relationship with your colleagues is so important to a happy and productive workplace.
Networking shouldn't only be with our external stakeholders, when we can gain so much knowledge and information from the coworker sitting right next to us.
I am very jealous of those lunch 'dates' and hope one day to be apart of what looks like such a great team!

Yes I totally agree too. During my internship, I also noticed that chatting with my colleagues during lunch time, for example, was very helpful in understanding the work culture and also improved my professional relationships. It is surprising how much you can learn from private chats with the other employees. I think all new interns should socialize, as much as permitted, with the firm's employees to get a much better insight of the organisational culture.
