My time at The Urban List has come to an end after a year and a
half of interning and it is safe to say that I am beyond upset. A tear was
brought to my eye after I said my goodbyes even though I knew it wasn’t going
to be forever. I have learnt so many amazing new skills and abilities that I am
able to put on my resume and even more experiences that I have had the
opportunity of being involved with that I can add to my portfolio. I know I
have walked away with seven new friends and colleagues in the industry and we
will never be losing contact.
The guys took me out for an amazing lunch to say thank you and
farewell, which is where I was presented with a thank you card from the team
along with a $100 voucher for a restaurant called Long Chim in the city and
another $100 voucher for COMO Treasury that is also in the city. Inside COMO
lays three brand new bars and drinking areas, coffee spots and restaurants. I
was almost speechless when they handed these to me and I was finally able to
see how much of an asset I was to the team.
Being a part of The Urban List team before the website even
launched was truly an amazing experience to be a part of. I watched people in
the office grow as individuals and as a team, I watched them achieve their
insanely high targets and I was able to witness our little city blossom into
something spectacular. I learnt endless amounts of new skills, met some very
talented new people and experienced myself growing in the industry that I am so
excited to get into.
Even though I am no longer a member of The Urban List team, I am
moving onto bigger things in my life. I am moving to the Gold Coast when this
semester finishes and following my dream of becoming a wedding and event
stylist and designer. The marketing manager of The Urban List has even asked me
to come back in March, return flights paid for, to be her on-the-day wedding
coordinator. This is HUGE news! And of course I said YES!
I am thrilled to start my career and see what the future hold for
little old me.
Thank you all for being a part of my journey,
Shelby
