So here we all are, nearly finished our placements but also nearly finished our degrees. This is obviously a big step for all of us. It is a challenging but ultimately an exciting time in our lives. I know that for me, graduating at age 27 I feel a little behind the game. That being said, I also feel ahead in some ways. I had a life before university. I travelled and had different jobs. I cannot wait to get started on my career. I have learned so much at this placement and I know I still have a lot to learn. Certainly there is no such thing as knowing everything. There is no one person working in PR who knows everything about anything.
I just want to remind everyone not to feel too small if when you walk into a job, you only know so much. You will pick it up and as we have found, once you get a chance to practice public relations, all of the pieces just fall into place and you realise how much you have learned during your time at uni. We will all make mistakes and have days where we come home crying. We will also have major triumphs and days where we come home on a high from what we have achieved. Just keep going and never say quit.
Be good to yourselves and try to stay true to what you believe in. Take care and good luck for the future!!
Kind Regards
Jemma
