Last Shout.

My placement has come to an end and it has been an enriching experience all in all. Although at times, I wish I had more to do or had more interesting projects to work on, I'm not complaning as my supervisor was an excellent mentor in moulding me into a real pr practitioner.
Here are a few things I learnt about working in PR ;
- Proof-read : There are so many simple mistakes you overlook because you're immune to your mistakes at times. It'd be great to have someone else read it before its finalised but in the meantime, it'd be great to develop a grammar-proof system where you spot mistakes easily.
- Patience: It's a simple virtue that I'm still working on.
-The importance of a good media release : PR is all about getting the right coverage and publicity and what better way to do it than to write up a stellar release. I learnt the most about writing efficient releases here and realised that I have still much more to learn.
-Contacts! : PR is about who you know and what you're able to get out of them. It sounds ruthless but thats the way it works. The more people you know, the more juice you're able to squeeze out. It can backfire though but if you're intentions are alright, then it'll work out just fine.

Well, I definitely have learnt a lot more but it'll be silly to bore you guys as you probably almost did the same things I did. I'll be back in Malaysia in a week for good but it was wonderful to call Perth my home for two years. This unit has helped me understand most importantly that public relations can be demanding, challenging but fulfilling at the end of it all.
