From the beginning of my studies social media has been at the forefront of communication across all aspects of public relations and business. Taking on the social media strategy and plan for an organisation is integral in shaping the organisations image and style.
From my internship i have gathered along with past work experience just how contrasted organisations social media plans can be. The Game Sports Bar has a heavy duty social media plan with 3 active social media streams (Facebook, twitter, instagram) all integral in promotions and bringing in customers as well as creating discussion online. 3 posts everyday mean a lot of content a to of the time.
With creating a style we took on classic hashtags to create a routine for followers as it has been heavily researched that humans enjoy routine. We adopted #tuesdayinspo which will be a sports or motivation quote overlapping into the sports theme of the business. #throwbackthursday allows us to find an image or video of a great sporting moment in history and sharing this to create engagement. Often relating week to week to the hot sport of that time.
Facebook now allows pages to see the analytics behind each post. We are able to monitor posts and see what does well and creates engagement and what flops. The use of hoot suite allows management of schedule easy and effective so that entire weeks can be pre-scheduled easing time up for other events.
Social media is one of my favourite parts of public relations and using it to communicate to an organisations publics. You uphold the image and style of an organisation on a multi level platform.
Have any of you had to take on social media voice for an organisation, if so what do you learn?
Welcome to PR Internship - YOUR opportunity to put everything you have learned over the past years at university into practice and to get a thorough insight into what public relations is like "in the real world". This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students. Please also see http://http://printernship-reflections2.blogspot.com.au/ for more reflections.
