A day out with Mummy Bloggers in Kuala Lumpur

We all know just how prevalent and influential Mummy bloggers have become in Australia.


Turns out it is just the same here in KL!


Recently I attended an event with some of KL’s well- known mummy bloggers - most with over 100 000 followers.

To showcase the recently opened Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur’s city centre, mummy bloggers and their children were invited to attend a ‘Kids Day Out’ during the school holidays.

This media event followed a trail around the shopping mall allowing the group to see what was on offer for kids and families.

Held from 11am – 4pm, the day included activities such as an accessories makeover at a children’s wear store, storytelling at a bookstore, free time at an indoor play zone, lunch at a boutique children’s store-cross-café, pizza making and cupcake decorating workshops, a visit to a toy store with interactive entertainment, as well as visits to popcorn and milkshake outlets.

The children seemed to really enjoy themselves and the day was planned well to excite then tire them out. They all received goodies/discount vouchers as well as gifts to take home at each outlet we visited.

It was interesting to observe the mummy bloggers and see how they operate.

They all took a lot of pictures all day. In front of every store that we visited the group was to assemble to have a group photo taken. They also took many happy snaps throughout the day during each activity at the many different stores. This took a lot of time and resulted in the day finishing later than expected.

The result?

Very long reviews (with lots of images) on their blogs.

I had the pleasure of clipping these the following week (involving lots of print screening) to be put into Quill City Malls’ end of month media coverage report. Some of the reviews were 28 pages long!

All in all it was a great day out and I found it really interesting to see how mummy bloggers in KL operate and to be part of the whole process from media invitation to media clippings at the end of the event.
