Last Week of Internship- Meeting The Bloggers

Time flies really fast, this the last week of internship in the Company. I am still considering of doing a full-time job here. Even though everyday trying to rush to meet deadlines, it beats better than doing nothing in office.

A few days ago, I did something more interesting then writing press release. I was asked to meet up with bloggers to show them one of the latest models. There are two guys one is local the other one is Caucasian, both of them are into watches and photography. My boss has something else to attend to and he left me alone with them after he introduces us. Luckily, they are nice people to get with if not there will be frequent awkward silence. As expected, they will ask questions about the watch. I have experience selling watches in shop and have the watch knowledge, if not I would not know what to converse with them.

It is interesting talking to bloggers of their experiences, pleasant and unpleasant events that they encountered. The conversation will helps to build relationship for the future possibility of chances to get featured in their blogs.

The picture above is the two bloggers together with my boss. Happily discussing about the newly arrive watch that catches many attention. They are very interested in photography, so after small chat at the coffee house we went to outdoor seats, so that they can take picture using natural lighting. I stand under the hot sun while they were talking and taking photo, it is not easy to entertain people with special interest.

We talked from watches to photography and then to travelling, I realise bloggers they have a lot to share. It was a pleasant experience to meet up with them and looking forward to another session with them.

Life as a PR intern

Hi everyone,

I am currently doing my internship at Red Army Watches as a PR intern. My company is in the watch industry, where they bring in non-mainstream watches directly from the watch makers. Red Army Watches started in year 2004, it is still consider relatively small company with 3 outlets in Singapore, 3 in Malaysia and 2 in Indonesia. There are plenty of room for this company to grow, with the help of marketing, public relations and advertising they will be able to achieve it.

Before getting a position as an PR intern, I was working as a full time as sales assistant so I am familiar with how the company operates, the brands in the shop and the people I work with. There are three people that will assist me for this few weeks will be the managing director, the general manager and the operation manager. As they are the ones that handle all the marketing and communication stuffs. Hopefully with my help it will reduce their job loads so that they can focus on expanding the business.

The managing director treats me like a full time staff, he got me a new table, new PC, new chair and even set up the PC for me. He also let me choose the colour of my table and I chose green table top and pink legs, now it has Christmas feel in the office. He probably expecting me to stay for long or maybe hiring another marketing and communications staff after me.

The main job scope for the week is to plan for the company end of year, as the boss will be flying off for his holiday. He said that he will prepare a to do list for me, can't wait to see what kind of job he is saving for me. As I am still in the midst of planning the company dinner, I will update on the company dinner and picture of my desk in the next post!
