Keeping up the good work

Hello again fellow bloggers,

Hope that everyone had an enjoyable long weekend and back at work with new strength and enthusiasm.

I have been given quite an interesting story to write today about two new employees, who have recently joined the department. This story is for the Newsflash, which is an internal online publication tool. Newsflash is all about informing employees of the department about new events in the industry, updates about media sources, magazines and newsletters, as well as matters such as flu vaccinations, and training courses available for staff members. It is a great tool, because it helps with the information exchange inside the organisation.

Now a little bit about the story that I am writing. I had to meet a new Occupational and Health and Safety Manager, and a new Human Resources Manage, who have started their jobs with DoIR (Department of Industry and Resources) only a few weeks ago. They both kindly agreed to give me a little bit of their time to talk about their experiences in person. I also took a picture of one of them, and the photo will appear on the website, and will accompany the story, so I had a little bit of a play with the company’s camera, which was fun to do. The new OHS manager has been working for WA Police for a number of years, and seems to be very excited about his new role, and is finding it a completely different environment. He reflected upon his previous job in the police force, and mentioned that it was a more dynamic setting, that is focused on team work.

I have got more newsflash stories on company record keeping, and one on a new Science Directory, which is a new publication.

It is all going well in terms of work, and working for the deaprtment is proving to be an interesting learning curve. As father as the rest of you go, keep up the good work and try to enjoy what you are doing!

Thank you for your insight into internal and employee communication, Tatiana. This is definitely an area we should focus on much more as part of your PR studies.

To how many people does Newsflash go out to?
- and in which format (hard copy? html?)?
What's its frequency?
And do your personally reckon Newsflash is an effective communication channel?

Make sure you keep copies for your portfolio and report. Great to see that you are enjoying yourself!

Dear Katharina,

Thank you for your comment on my post about Newsflash. Newsflash is an Internal web publication tool. Stories on Newsflash are updated weekly. Every single employee in the Department can access it via the Intranet.
Newsflash features stories about employees, news within the department, new programs, training, etc.The majority of stories are also accompanied by photos.

I have already written a few stories for Newsflash,so they will be included in my Portfolio.

Thanks again for your feedback Katharina.
