You must now be questioning why i was in that horrible ugly bright orange suit. The definations of event management is what i have learnt in university, and now finally getting the taste it.

My 20 days of placement with Devahasdin has come to an end, and the final week was a full on as i took part in the Outotech 20th anniversary event that was held at the Mount Eliza House in King's Park. The bright suit in the picture is a display of how i look like at the first bits of the event. :D Sticking to a minimum cost, instead of hiring paid actors for $240 an hour to do the dirty job, i replaced them to be the 'general carpark director'. I have come to an understanding that little things in an event plays a huge role, and sometimes, we tend to foresee these little things, ie. the plentiful amount of people that got lost on their way while walking up to the venue.

Rewinding back, i played multiple roles whilst in the event, from the carpark director to being part of the event coordination team. After directing the guests into the venue, i had to quickly get changed to stand at the reception to wait for the late arrivals which did not turn up!! As i walked into the event itself, i could hear a couple whisper, 'that girl looks familiar', but i didn't bother. After the mains, everyone stood up to socialize, and a guest walked up to chat with me, and the very first thing he said,'no offence, but are you the girl in the orange suit at the gates of Mount Eliza?' I literally wanted to crawl into a hole, if there was one that is. Well, at least i saved my manager $240 from the budget expense.

But what i thought was the best part of the event was that while all the men were drooling saliva down the floor with tongue's wagging, i got to take a picture with Holly! :D

Holly was our hired sexy model for the event who had the responsibility in serving the vodka shooters to the guest after the 20th anniversary birthday cake big bang bash. But unfortunately she had to go back in quick as we heard several complaints from the ladies who were not very happy about her appearance.

Overall, i believe that every glam aspects of PR has also the dirty hardwork filled in it. Me being in that ugly suit was just simply a small part of it, and i know that being in charged on solely on an event will even be a more stressful killer.

Aside from the event, some updates from last week was that my manager David told me that the media release that i wrote for Skyn's, the news was posted up on 30th April in The West. Super exciting! And i finally had the chance to go door to door to almost every publication to do media droppings for the Safeguard Fruit and Veggie wash.

20 days seemed very short and i am really sad to leave Devahasdin, but to my surprise, on my last day, Sandra, the owner of Devahasdin told me that despite even after the 20 days has ended, but whether is it a press conference that i want to be part of or an event i want to take part in, i could feel free to give them a ring as they would be posting me emails of their current jobs to keep in contact, to top the icing, she also gave me a Thank You card with a $100 David Jones gift card which i am really thankful about. I feel that no matter how busy the group in Devahasdin is, they have always tried to teach me things, on how to translate what i have learnt in uni coursework, into the real life PR situation, which although 20 days does seem very short, but i have came out learning a lot, which is why pr393 as a graduating unit now makes so much sense in preparing us to face a real life PR situation!

And for now, i have to start on my report...!
