Seminar

Yesterday was my first event! and it went ahead with very little difficulties or inconvenience!! What a relief.
Because this is such a well established firm, a lot of the little details were quite easy and straightforward. For instance we used an outside venue who managed everything from the catering to the set up. This made it lots easier. I was really worried that I had managed to mix up the RSVP lists - so it was a huge relief when we could supply people with the relevant name badge! The preparation involved checking and re-checking attendees' names and to ensure that nobody was left off the recommended invite list.
This event was a seminar for outside clients on Professional Indemnity in an economic downturn. I organised promotional packs with the firm's merchandise for each of the 60 people scheduled to attend. These included a pen, notepad, brochure on the services we can provide to insurers and a brochure on the seminar proceedings.
There was also a case study which was distributed at the end of the first hour and another booklet providing details of our services in this particular industry. It was a really interesting insight into the methods of communicating our services to a specific audience who might have used us or have need to use us in the future. It was a free seminar and it just provided numerous details on what is currently going on in this sector. It generated a good response - more then was anticipated - and the case study effectively worked to create a bond between staff representatives and guests. As legal professional services are so relient upon word of mouth, it is really good when a relationship can be established like this.
I have another three of these seminars scheduled before I finish. None will be as easy as this because all the others will be hosted here in the office, so they will include catering etc. - but im looking forward to the challenge! So wish me luck for Monday and Wednesday night next week!!!
