Organising the British Airways Travel Agents Awards Night

Organising your first event is very interesting and exciting. On the 26th of August, the British Airways Travel Agents Awards Night was held. Prior to the event, a lot of work had to be doneto ensure the success of the event. The main tasks in which I was involved during the organisation of the event were:

• preparing the press kit for the invited journalists. The press Kit included the speeches of the Country Manager, Mr. Thierry Arekion and that of the country manager of South Africa and Indian Ocean Islands , Mrs. Sur Botes. There was a also a detailed schedule of the soiree, the guest list and the name of the award winners.
• Send official invitations to journalists by mail.
• Make several follow up calls to confirm if they has well recieved the invitation and to confirm their presence at the awards ceremony.

After the event, I had to call the journalists from the different press organisations which were invited to know when the articles about the event would be published. I also helped my supervisor to choose the best photos taken by the photograph whom we hired for the occasion to send to the media.

All in all, it was an interesting experience.
