PR 393 in Boulevard Enterprise - Week 3

Hi there! Hope you guys doing fine and enjoying your training.

Continue to update about what I have learnt in this week and what’s happening!

As usual, I week still need to work on the actual expenses for every single event that has already been organized last week and also updating my actual expenses for the whole event ‘Pesta Boulevard’. In the process, I have learnt how to search for sponsors to support the event so that our organization could save more money on expenditures. However, my organization does practice formal invitations to sponsors. Instead, my manager just rings them up and asks for sponsors. Looks like business relations is a very important in every business.

This was the first time I have experienced a press luncheon with reporters from different newspapers. The purpose of the press luncheon was mainly to update the reporters on our coming events, while having a meal together. The representatives of the local music societies also invited to join the press luncheon since they will be performing in the coming events in Pesta Boulevard.

I got a chance to help out my colleague in writing press releases to the reporters in updating them on our coming events. Our company targets the Chinese media. Therefore, we need to write the press release in Chinese. Nevertheless, we did update our coming events towards the English newspaper but it wasn’t as detailed as what we did in the Chinese section.

This week is our busiest week due to the ‘Countdown Concert 2009’. This is one of the biggest events within the 17 days and all the programs are organized by us. In the concert, we invited famous local singers from Miri to perform and also had some hot dance performances. The atmosphere was jolly and crowded by the audiences. Besides that, there was a lucky draw for audiences on that night. When the clock struck 12, a net full of balloons were released. The audiences had to pop the balloons and the lucky 5 that found tickets in the balloons were awarded with different prizes. The night ended around 2am in the morning. It was a successful event and I learnt a lot of things from planning a big event such as this one.
