Hello all,
I have just had my first experience with a press conference and it has been quite fascinating to be engaged and involved with one. I had press releases which i had sent out with the help of a senior colleague of my organization's public relation department and i also made follow up calls to confirm the attendance of the media's persons. It was quite a enjoyable experience to actually be afforded hands-on experience to liaise with the media, both print and broadcast included. I had to work over the weekend to complete and finalize the press kits which were to be presented to the media and also with my colleagues have every little detail and inventory for the press conference done and dusted.
The press conference was on an early Monday morning and we had to set up everything a couple of days in advance except for details such as setting up of buntings and media registration desks which we did a couple of hours before the conference began. I had to again call up on the members of the media who had confirm their attendance before the conference began and it was just to politely remind them of the event.
The conference was a partnership signing agreement between Go International Group Sdn Bhd, Malaysia and Dreamhack Sweden, the worlds largest computer gaming festival. The conference went on smoothly and it was a good occasion as the boss was pleased that the media was present and that our conference was well received by the audiences. Our signing ceremony has had its effects as people from not only Malaysia but also from Hong Kong, Brunei and Australia have all been contacting our organization to be a involved in the events and competitions that our organzation and Dreamhack Sweden will be organizing.
I have had a busy but absolutely invaluable learning experience and i hope that at the end of my internship i will have not only learnt more about the trade but also made a contribution to my organizations public relations efforts.
