The End is Nigh

I can't wait to have a little bit of R&R, especially now that the sun has decided to come out!

The last few weeks have been quite good for me at my organisation. Things were a little rocky at the start and there really isn't any kind of structured PR plans in place but things are going pretty well. We're working towards an event in November. I have negotiated a series of interviews on a local radio station, a mention on the same radio station on their 'what's on' segment, an article in Xpress regarding the event and I'm sure the Sunday Times will cover the event as well. I have also negotiated alcohol sponsorship for the event by a popular and well-known beer company and WA wine company. So things look like they're going to go really well.

I have learnt preparation and knowing your story/subject well are really important in PR. The earlier you can notify the press the better response you get and the more coverage they can arrange. Same goes for potential sponsors, guest speakers, entertainment etc. In some circumstances mentioning it informally months before to people can get you ahead as well. So always keep on top of what's coming up for you and your organisation because opportunities to tell key people about your event/news can pop up unexpectedly.

The event should be a complete success, what a high to end my internship on!

Hope everyone is doing really well, good luck for the end of semester assignments/exams etc.
