Internship @ Brillante Music

Communication is key to success when two person works together.

During my internship, I see how both communication and miscommunication can caused.

In this new age world we rely heavily on the new media and technology to communicate with each other. We slowly forgotten the importance of the traditional communication methods.

As I am typing this blog, I have to keep reminding myself that I am not suppose to use short forms or abbreviations this is one of the impact of technology. We all try our best to squeeze in 140 characters into a message while we are writing a message on our phone.

I had a painful lesson learnt during my internship when i receive a message from my boss instructing me to carry out a task. As he used too much abbreviations i misread it as he wanting to keep me updated instead of instructions. One miscommunication led to the other and at the end of the day, I was to blame for the process. Although I was not punished for that matter, I felt that the whole matter would have been different if traditional method of communication was used.

Hi Liyan,

yes communication is really important. When I first started working, the communication i had between my supervisor was pretty bad, it was because i was nervous and i did not want to screw things up.

I realized the more i tried not to make mistakes the more i made them all because i did not understand what my supervisor wanted me to do.

After working there for a couple of weeks, things, got better and i stopped being nervous and started talking to my supervisor more and we had good communication between us.

It is something i am going to take with me when i go into the working world next time.

=)
