My second blog entry

This is my second blog entry and things at work got a little quiet lately. Not much happening already as it is the end of the year and most of the events have finished. The newsletter was just published and there was an article on the Memory Walk that was on the 20th of September, which I must say was a good article written by my boss.

I helped to put in some activities that are coming up this month and next month for the Alzheimer’s Australia and also I got a nice quote for the newsletter. On top of that, I was calling up hotels and community centers to see if they would want to hold an upcoming paper launch and it was pretty hard because it is just a small group and a lot of the places were pretty expensive, but I finally managed to get 2 places where they had a reasonable charge for a small function.

Margaret, one of the public affairs person at the Alzheimer’s Australia asked me to write a story on National Nanna’s Night, where children in Melbourne would dress up in purple and spend the day with their Nanna’s. She wanted me to write a report saying as to how this would benefit Alzheimer’s Australia WA if they were going to do it because they have stopped it in Melbourne.
She was happy with the report I did for her but I do not know if they are going to go along with it because according to Margaret, it is a merchandise-based event. I hope they do continue on with it and change it to be more for the younger generation to learn more about Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia so that they would understand what their grandparents are going through, if they do have the disease.

This is my last week of work and I am feeling a little sad because I felt like I just started working there. I have to say that I have learnt a lot since I started working here and it has helped me a lot with my other Public Relations unit.
I will write at the end of this week.
