Hi Everyone!
I am now only four days away from finishing my internship with Tourism WA. I've had a very busy and stressful time in the last few weeks with so many assignments, including the report for this unit, to complete. Time management was very important during all this as I had to work everything around my placement times, my casual job and other commitments.
During the last couple of weeks at Tourism WA I have been doing a lot of media monitoring and updating of their databases. I'm updating information on things such as; media releases sent out and used, media clippings of tourism in WA and enquiries made to Tourism WA. I have also been creating media lists for their media monitoring online. Every week (I only do two days per week) I make sure all new information is put into these logs. One person there said it was great that I was using my initiative which I was obviously very happy with!
Another recent task I have been given to do is to send out, and lately write, media releases for Tourism WA. This is very exciting as it's great to put my skills learnt into practise. I also performed follow up calls to the media about whether they had received our media releases. I've also been asked to think about where I would send the media releases I have written.
I hope everyone else is enjoying their placement! Thank you for reading my blog entry, I will post again soon!

Hi Kelsey,
I know exactly what you mean about time management being important this semester. It is has been difficult for me also to work my placement into everything else going on such as uni and part-time work. Luckily for me I completed the majority of my placement in the mid-year break however once uni started again it was difficult to fit it all in. However, I am sure you will agree that this unit has been very beneficial and I think it has given us a good start in the right direction towards finding a job next year. At least it is good to know that we are not the only ones who have found it abit stressful to fit everything in. Goodluck for the rest of your placement!

Hi Kelsey,
Your placement with Tourism WA sounds fantastic. I can understand how good it must have felt to have someone notice that you are using your own initiative. I believe that praise can sometimes be underestimated. Well done!
The ability to think outside the square will take you a long way in the Public Relations world. Creativity and independence in thinking is what will set you apart from the others when competing for jobs.
Congratulations on nearly finishing your placement.

Hey Kelsey,
I hope your report is going well, and that you found some things related to our studies to put in it. Nevertheless, I thing that even if you did not have a chance to work in the specific area of Public Relation, you should have learned a lot. I think that the objective of this internship is not just to have the perfect job and the perfect company, but rather to experience work, and to be prepared for next year, our ‘deput’ in the working place, so anyway, you have experience something.
Cheers
Celine
