Hi Everyone!
So today I completed my final day at Tourism WA. I have to say it has been an insightful and great experience. During my final weeks there I have been writing up media releases, writing up newsletter articles and calling up different tourism businesses. I've found that by now I could also manage to find things to do without having to enquire.
Although it seems like I wasn't doing any really important tasks, when I think back to when I first started doing my practical placement I have come so far and learned so much. I feel a lot more prepared for moving out into the "real world" and a lot more confident.
Tourism WA was such a great place for me to complete my placement. Everyone was friendly, helpful and understanding, and I appreciated all the help and advice they have given me. The tasks I have probably enjoyed the most were writing up media releases and articles, and gathering information. There were no real areas that I hated doing, but emailing and speaking over the phone with insensitive and difficult people was obviously not the best part.
I admit that, to begin with, I wasn't too keen on having a whole unit depend on a practical placement. However now after I have completed my placement I consider it to be one of the best units I have done during my studies! It's been the best learning experience and I'm glad that it's part of the course.
