Blog Entry #2

Hello fellow PR practitioners,
Today's task seemed simple, but to me it was out of the ordinary. My job required me to make media calls today, and I find it harder then writing a press release. Why? In my opinion, I would prefer writing then communicating with the media, I find it difficult because it requires excellent oral skills and also, patience. The oral skills include: Good language(in my terms, English), good knowledge on the topic, know how to reply to questions or remarks and also the volume of voice projection! And what does all this have to do with patience? Most media outlets to my understanding receive far too many media invites and press releases, in order to get their attention to your event, you need to be persistant and patient with them asking you continuosly to re-send the invite. And therefore I give you, oral skills and patience. Two things that I learnt today:)
If there are any extra comments as to how to deal with the media, do feel free to drop a comment on your opinions and knowledge. Much appreciated.
Till my next exciting experience at work!
