The journey of Ample Learning Continues!

While on the run with my internship….I have taken part in the events handled by the Group Corporate Communications here at Media Prima Berhad. Work etiquette is one thing that this department knows how to handle and if communication was not existent, I doubt any public relative work would be possible. I respect how we use email memos in our department. You do not find people running up and down in the aims of disseminating information back and forth.

When there is a corporate visit, the events manager will let every into the details of the guest, day and time so as to know the type of clients we are handling etc. A corporate visit would involve a slide show presentation in cinema style seating, a tour to our radio stations and television studios where at times they participate as a live audience. Light refreshments are served towards the end at our executive lounge. After this goodie bags or the Media Prima Berhad table book will be handed over as a token of appreciation. With school visit, all is the same except the slide show presentation, serving of refreshments and live show attendance because they normally come in large numbers.

When it comes to events that are held outstation, we have a good relationship with the One World Hotel as they are the nearest. We recently had an Extraordinary General Meeting held there where my team I were responsible for the entire set up of the location, making sure that we are on site before our shareholders, Board of Directors and the press. Goodie bags were prepared, registration of shareholders and being on standby as the meeting progressed.
Next was the biggest annual event in Malaysia, the Anugerah Juara Lagu, where we hosted about 11 000 people at the Bukit Jalil Stadium with live television viewership of over a million. The task I was given for the Anugerah Juara Lagu was to fax, follow up and confirm attendance of important guests to the event. I did the collection of the VIP tickets from the Brand Management Group, named then sent them out to the designated offices of our guests. Nearing the event, I was allocated to be in charge of a particular seating area of the guests (250) at the Bukit Jalil stadium where the event was held. On dress rehearsal night, I exchanged ideas and thoughts on the organizing of the event with the manager of BMG as she was keen on knowing how I felt as a new man on board. For the night of the event I ushered and assisted in other ways apart from my given task. The following week after the show, we had a meeting where we gave opinions on how best to improve the show for the future.

I hope you all are enjoying time spent in your various organizations, gasp as much as possible. Take care shall keep you posted!!

i believe your experience with taking part in events has been an awesome one, getting involved in events can be quite challenging though..
it needs a lot of hard work and determination mainly because;

events can be valid development function, used in conjunction with all your other development efforts.

Events are a means to an end, events are done to further the mission of your organization. Realize that the event you are planning is a tool, a vehicle to take you from a goal to a result.

an event needs to be used to help your organization realize its larger vision.

Best of luck with your experience you will do good!!!
