Its been a while since i last wrote, it's been busy, busy, busy!

One of the most important things I've learnt through my placement is the importance of time management in PR as well as all professional fields.

Like many of you, I have been given a lot of tasks to complete.
And like university assignments, these tasks always seem to due at the same time. Unlike Uni however, in the workplace no one reminds you that something is "due". It is up to you to finish tasks on time.

We have a the economic breakfast coming up which is HUGE. Basically an event close to a thousand people. It's involved months of planning. But it's exciting and I can't wait to see it all done.

I've been focusing on getting our. Sharepoint site up and running. It's been a pretty underutilized tool. For those of you who are unfamiliar with sharepoint it's basically a building block for an internal website for staff. It's a great communication tool and it can really save you a lot of time if you use it correctly.

I have been thrown in the deep end with it. I've never used it before and have basically spent the last week learning the ropes and developing our site. Luckily Microsoft has some pretty good tutorials online. My supervisor loves what I've done but I get the impression that maybe I'm just a but to eager.

Has anyone else found it hard to adjust to working? I mean in Uni it's great to be smart and you are rewarded for your hard work and effort. But in the work place being "too efficent" seems to be a bad thing. It seems to threaten some people and this can jeopordise your position at work. I would love to know other peoples thoughts? Maybe strategies to deal with this.

Hi Cassie

I do agree that time management is the most important issue to be consider.

However, I met this situation where I was stuck in the middle because the designer has not done his studio photo shoot for the MIFF 2010 leaflet (our deadline to print the leaflet was before Chinese New Year). We ended up have to print the leaflet a week before MIFF, which is already too late (lots of company start working only from March).

Luckily, our company has a well-maintained relationship with the advertising agency, they promise to rush the deadline with us. You know that it is always not necessary for them to rush the deadline with you right?

Some time, there are lots of "unexpected situation" occur during preparation. If situation like this happen, then it is really much depends on the relationship between you and stakeholders.

So PR = Establish relationship, building up trust and maintain.

Enjoy your internship Cassie. ^^
