I'm Shehzana from Charles Telfair Institute, Mauritius and I'm doing my internship at AfrAsia Bank Ltd. Headquartered in the capital, Port Louis, it is a boutique bank which focus on corporate and institutional banking, wealth management, private and partnership banking. It serves Mauritius and the dynamic Africa-Asia trade and investment corridor. The bank is heavily engaged in PR activities and I knew from my very first day it's going to be a great experience.
Already 13 working days! And it's been an amazing experience so far! Tiring sometimes, but informative and entertaining as well!
We're actually 4 in the Marketing & PR department: Myself, Suneeta - The Head of the department, Frederick - The Marketing & Product Analyst and Seetal, the Marketing Officer. It's really cool working with them; a pleasant and friendly atmosphere prevails.
Here we go! Welcome to the world of PR! The bank is launching representative offices in Cape Town and Johannesburgh next week. I had the chance to work on the press kit - Media Release, Backgrounder and Fact Sheet, techniques which I studied from the vital, skill-building PR (Techniques) 200. I also had to go through the presentation of the bank's CEO to work on the press release (ensuring the Inverted Pyramid Style). As regards to the design and layout, I used Publisher as studied in class.
I've also worked on invitation lists, which were in fact my first tasks to do on my first day at work. I've been sending invitation mails to prospective clients, updated many contact lists so far too! Writing messages attached to the mails, writing about the key achievements of the bank for a mini-newsletter, preparing credit card agreeement papers after going through some mails from the clients and from the bank are some more activities I enjoyed working on too!
Hope you're all enjoying your internship friends!
Something more original soon in the next post!! :)
See ya!
