Last week of placement

Today marks the start of my last week at EMIC Films!
This week will mostly be about finalising funding proposals, ensuring that all of our material is right and formatted correctly for each funding body that we will be applying to for this particular documentary series.
I'm also finishing up with my media monitoring, keeping up with online and printed sources to make sure that projects of a similar vein are monitored and assessed as competition. So far we're going well, because the only projects that come close to being direct competition are still not directly related to our subject matter or format.
Another aspect we have been working on is compiling a list of media contacts. From working in PR both in Perth and interstate, Michelle has already cultivated relationships with a number of media outlets and she has been keeping those most advantageous to the company informed of its activities and proposed release dates. I think this has shown the advantages of really committing to media relations, particularly in fairly small industries such as we have here in Perth, because if you treat them right during your time at one job, they will continue to look after you when you are exploring other ventures.
