My biggest mistake in my internship....
I have written a short report based on my analysis findings to help generate new ideas and tackle the weaker points of the communication process between the organisation and the consumers.(demographics, readership, interaction, fans etc.)
As I have always been a timid character, I was hesitant to express my views on particular aspects of the findings to others personally. However, by being given the task to evaluate their current situation and to report my findings through writing, I felt like I had the opportunities to express my views with ease. Unsure of how well my ideas would be accepted, I found that writing it down and having the opportunity to explain my perspectives helped me communicate my ideas.
I found this to be a great alternative to expressing my recommendations with clear evidence of how my ideas are formed. An example of this was their male market. It is clear that they have a greater number of female fans; hence a plan was needed to be devised and draw the attention of a male market. My suggestions included a greater form of primary research through conducting surveys etc. This concept is something I learnt through my advertising units; hence I believe it to be most effective in finding out consumer needs and wants. I did not have the confidence to approach and express my views.
It was not until the other day, that Martina explained to me how important it was for me to open up in this field and simply express my great ideas. So a lesson was learnt from my internship...
When you get the opportunity to express your views, recommendations and general ideas, I cannot stress enough how important it is to take the opportunity and make your statement. You never know, but they might be more than willing to listen and implement your ideas if you are willing to share them.
