Healthy working environment = Healthy you!!

Hello PR interns, well i cannot believe it this my final week of interning at The Department for Communities. Somewhat, i feel sad thinking that i’ll be leaving my beloved placement.

These past few days, I just started to think, what I’ve been doing for the past 20 days. The amount of experiences and the joys I had in working while learning PR skills.

Honestly, am not a morning-person, but if there’s a demand for that than I guess I have no choice at all. J Anyway, I was just thinking, what is the ENDORPHINE that makes me able to wake up at 6.30am and home by 5.30pm, 4 days in a week??

The answer is…….. drum roll please my placement is a healthy work environment… *yaaaaaaay!!!!..... I just realise, everyday at work it seems time flies really fast… and the environment just so alive…

I’ve attached the article above (you could also find other useful articles in regards to healthy working environment, happy browsing), however… following lists is MY personal experience, working in a healthy work environment …

1. Employees laugh often

For me, laughing is the medicine for all sickness. It doesn’t really matter if you’re stress or feeling down, once you’re smile everything seems better and inside you are happiER.

2. Employees freely share their ideas

It doesn’t have to a brilliant idea, it could be as simple as ideas for lunch menu…. J me and my colleagues, always have the most quality time during lunch. We talks about everything, especially WA communities. From cultures, habits, do’s and don’ts and other things.

3. Everyone is matter

This is probably the most crucial thing that helps me during my days of interning. I can’t believe it how much being matter for your colleagues could make your day. J I know, it seems am exaggerating just because am an intern, but… it does make a difference. I used to intern back in my country Indonesia. The vibe is just different and somewhat it affects your mentality. Since you know you’re matter and “included”, you are becoming MORE productive than being the outsider.

There are so many other things that I want to share with you guys, but I think I need to get back to my report… :p hang in there, Cynthia you’re almost there…. *hahaha…

I’m hoping you guys are having a blast from your placement… I’ll see you guys tomorrow then..

Hi Cynthia Purnama Sari

You’re right! A healthy working environment is crucial for quality performance of an organization. I think communication between management and employees is extremely important. Managers/CEO shall regularly hold meetings to discuss the company’s goals and issues with employees and seek employees’ feedback. Listening to the opinion of employees is critically crucial to increase productivity and improve performance. This shows the company appreciates its employees’ contribution and this can lead to greater employee satisfaction.

Having opportunities to gather together facilitates relationship among colleagues. I am pleased that I am able to communicate well with colleagues and respect one another despite cultural differences and views. This internship gave me opportunity to understand and learn different cultures as well. During the internship, I realized that mutual respect, tolerance and collaboration are important for a team to succeed. Good communication between colleagues is important to facilitate flow of information and improve the quality of works done.

Your internship looks incredibly interesting!Well done!

Wow, I think it's pretty safe to say that this is the happiest blogpost in here so far! =D

I think what you have described there is the fundamentals of PR. Its what PR is all about. Smiling, communication and respect. It doesn't sound academic but I think if we boil everything down to the core, this is what PR fundamentally is about.

It seems like you really enjoyed your internship. Well done and best of luck!

Hello Siaw Jiah and Khairul A. Sajali...

Thanks for the comments, really appreciated.. :) I have to agree with both of you, just like what Khairul said, smiling, communication and respect is the fundamental of PR.

I don't think being ignorant towards your colleagues would benefit us from any aspects.

Siaw Jiah, I had a first-hand experience that mutual respect, tolerance and collaboration are important. It was very interesting when different cultures blend all together aiming for the same thing, that is an ability to produce something positive. :)

Am hoping you guys are having lots of fun. Wishing you goodluck for your studies and your future.

Agree!!!

When you are having a good time and being happy at work, you will have more energy to go to work and believe it or not, own excitement to go to work the next day.

During my internship, one of the main thing i always looking forward to work is the time where everyone in the office will finish their work or decided to take a break and start throwing jokes around the office. believe me, a good laugh in the middle of working is very important to keep you stay awake. :)
