Hello everyone,
1. "always remember to have ADVERB when writing the LEAD for your news article"
According to ex-The West journalist a.k.a my mentor, your lead paragraph of news need to have an adverb. Once you've found mr. or mrs. adverb, you've managed to survive the battle. :) he also said, the lead paragraph shows your 'strategic thinking'. Any of you who able to score on your lead, meaning you have a very good strategic thinking skills. *yaaaay for you guys*
2. "when it comes to speech-writing, make sure you're able to read it OUT LOUD"
This happen to me during writing process of the 1st speech draft. At first, i just want to put every information in, however i couldn't read it for some reason. Felt like my tough weight 2 pounds :p then my mentor suggested me to write whatever it is that comes to my brains, as if am telling the information to others *informing* works like a magic to me, am able to read it out-loud *i did it when i got home* and when i checked the word count, it was the total of t25 words... :)
3. "red pen is your friend - don't take any criticism personal"
That was probably the most important thing I've learnt from my soon to be 24 days of internship. When someone check your work and make any criticism or suggestions, don't be so hard on yourself or to others. Other people's pen is YOUR FRIEND. Friend who taught you what to do and what not to do. It will help you to solve what's missing and demand you to think both creatively and strategically.
4. "University taught you how to write essays and report, that's our job to teach new things"
I've worried so much about how my placement has HIGH EXPECTATION on me during my internship. Turned out, THEY EXPECT NOTHING from me or other interns. The reason for that is, "how do you know what's right, when we haven't show you the right way to do it". Somehow, as a final semester uni student, i have this mindset that supposedly, i KNEW everything. For the past 3 years we are learning to master and familiar ourselves with PR skills and techniques, which I assume i could use them in the field. Turned out, there's not even one second, i've stopped learning at my placement. Everyday is a new day, new skills, new word(s), new knowledge.
5. "Don't be so hard on yourselves, as you've done excellent job"
I realise, sometimes I forget how far i've done and achieved. You tend to forget what effort you've done when you're so nervous and scared. Which happened to me quite frequent. Somehow, i started to feeling PROUD remembering things and achievement from the past. To be able finishing the period of 20-day internship and obtaining so many new skills and techniques in PR, networking, i think i could say that am proud of myself. :) As for you my PR friends, always remember to be proud of yourselves, as you've gone this far on your studies. :)
Am guessing those are the top 5 quotes *that's all i can remember for now* :) I'm hoping you guys could find some new insights and gain something from the quotes i shared... :) I still can't believe it this is also my 2nd last blog!!!???.....
Cherrio,
