Experience the Busy-ness

Hi people!

I just went through my second week of placement. Four days of placement in total. What can I say, time flies.

This week was quite a busy week for me. I’ve been working on databases, importing files from Excel to Outlook and double-checking the imported files one by one. Those tasks sound really easy but trust me, they are worse than ever! I remember sitting in front of the small screen from 9am to 0230pm and from 3pm to 0430pm, non-stop working on Words, Excel and Outlook, having trouble transferring files and having trouble coping with Excel and Outlook (which I’m not familiar with). All my partners and mentor were busy rolling their chairs from their cubicle to mine, just to double check I’m doing fine. *Thanks guys! Well, those tasks were breath taking but I learned a lot and I’m confident enough to work on it on my own now!

Other than the database, I’m also working on some stories (which are for the ‘News of The Day’ on the intranet), a communication plan on Communities Grants, sorting out exact addresses for those bounced back letters (including calls and email) and calling up the people from Child Care Licensing Centre for a brief interview on their database system – GEORGE. All these little tasks have kept me busy all day and I’ve gained lots of knowledge on the contribution of Communities (the department) to the community. =)

Uni starts soon. Having placement and uni at the same time, all the workload must be very challenging. And I’M READY!! =D Time to get seriously busy people! Have fun and work out the best you can from your placement!

Good Luck with your placement Jo. I am sure you will excel. I know having uni and your placement at the same time isn't easy but I am sure you will breeze through. My placement just ended yesterday and I was sad to leave. I leave for Perth this evening.

Enjoy every bit of your placement. :)

Hey JO!!

have to browse through like thousands of posts to finally finding one of yours. I've been doing lots of compiling on Excel too, can completely understand what you're going through. But seems like your interviews for your stories are interesting, hopefully I'll get a chance to do something like that.

Take care! let's catch up soon!=))
