Many of my colleagues who undertook their internship in Botswana especially in any part of the government sector, will agree with me that there was a greater challenge, revelation and narrowing it down for the health sector. Public Relations was just being introduced which gave me the opportunity to be part of the foundation layers. I have to agree that theory and the actual work place sounded more or less parallel but at some point merging. The time I started my internship it was a welcoming and it was also a sad time to leave, working in an environment of close to 300 workers was not everyone’s cup of tea. The first weeks started with basics of writing memos and distributing them, updating the notice boards, being at the information desk to assist the public but with time the real work began.

However in analysis: Would you say that in pursuit of two way symmetrical communication, it can somehow be an opening for commotion, that is giving the clients more power which can be misused and creating tension among these parties?

Reading through your blog i find it quite fascinating the amount of work that you had to in your internship. Working within or close with 300 workers surely isn't a cup of tea. However the experience is what matters and also the fact that you had a good time. I wonder how it must have been working together with other interns from other universities.
Answering your question about the pursuit of two way symmetrical communication in some ways you are right that commotion and conflicts could arise through the use of the clients having more power over the workers, however it is important to tackle two way symmetrical communication with care and with some sort of rules which can help both workers as well as the clients. What do you think? Am i going a bit too far? Two way communication is supposed to benefit both the workers and clients together not just one.
