Events Management another important tool in PR...My adventure in the Industry!!

Hi everyone this is my first posting ever since I did my inten with Red Archer events management a little over a month ago. As we all know event management is another important tool in public relations and to my discovery at the time of my placement there is a whole lot more to it than just simply planning events. I got to learn that events are one of the most effective ways of communicating with the media and also creating a positive image for a particular product, public figure or organization.

When I started with the company, they were currently working with a number of clients at that period and I was only introduced to two contracts, ASIENCE and UNILIVER which I was to assist with. Fortunately on my first day I was given interesting work to do as and not only expected to sit just behind the desk work from there. Later on that day my co-worker and I went on a reccee to some of the city’s exclusive Spas in order to find out information regarding the venue we were looking at to hold an event for Asience launch.

Following my Recce for that day we were able to cover both Jojoba Spa in Berjaya Times Square Mall and The Saujana Club House in Subang Jaya. These were the two suggested areas as they had the therapeutic aesthetics which was greatly stressed in relation to the theme of the launch. In jojoba which we spent quite some time (about 1 and half hours) we basically had two options which were either to do the launch inside the Spa or use the outside area which was also beautiful. We met up with our clients from Hakuhodo at both the locations and we then started the tours. first we started with Jojoba there we met with the Spa Manager to give us a tour around, this followed the collection of essential information such as measurements and photos of the place which would later on assist in deciding the staging and setting arrangements. The clients surveyed the area as well and many questions and suggestions were made which we took into consideration and also advised whenever possible.

After that long day of going around and trying to figure out what Recces are all about I got to understand that events management is more than just executing it goes beyond that, it involves finding the best place for an event to be held, taking measures to plan the logistics, coordinating the technical aspects and also devising a concept that will be able to create an air of creativity that will best suit the client and also crasp the media and public attention. Also working closely with the client (in this case the people from Kakuhodu)so as to get their second opinion while doing all the planning, and this involves a great deal of communication and creating a relationship with these people you are working with. Then I got to understand the significance of communication and relationship building in this field as was always stressed by my lecturers throughout my study in PR.

Tips from Marc Gambello:Don't a go to get into company meetings, just because the market is better. Corporate meetings are divergent from the weddings in time spans of arranging, implementation and evaluation. In item every outcome is arranged, implemented and estimated otherwise and consequently you can't direct all type of events.
