PR in the field

Hello everybody,My name is Ditiro Phiri from LUCT.I was doing my intern in private organization Tshimologo Business,a small consultancy in Botswana founded in 2000.

During my stay there I was responsible for communication process,as in the organisation there is/was no person for the PR department so I was there as to be the only PR person in the organisation,I worked under the supervision of the Operations Manager who got some of commands from the CEO(the founder of the Tshimologo Business).

TBS have all their services under one roof which makes it a one stop for immaculate business solutions.

First day at work I was assigned to take on the Liaison plan which was not an easy task at all,it was my task to compile all clients and their contact details,had to provide contacts every time when any client had to be contacted,some of activities carried out included preparing memos and letters for clients in which later they were taken to the Registry of companies and Botswana Unified Revenue Services(BURS).

Well the PR job is fairly busy these days,particularly since the businesses are competing with each other more than ever,People/public are integral part of how business operates or thrives therefore if business Public image is ruined it can have a large impact nationwide on it's people or client.

The field of PR involves wide range of clients from celebrities and attorneys to entire companies,it is the job of a Public relations Manager to ensure that the image and attitude of their client is in sync with the public,their customs and the media therefore PR professionals must manage publicity for their clients and arrange interviews the goal being to ensure that the client maintains a positive image and a good relationship with the public in order to maintain business (N.A,2010).

PR in the field is totally different from the PR we learn in the varsity,especially when it comes to the side of Proposals,guys stay tuned to my next post as will talk about the difference between the PR in the field and varsity PR.
