BE HUMBLE TO CLIENTS

Working with clients requires the consultants to be respectful, humble and honest all the time. This helps build strong relationships between the consultancy and its clients. Clients are the most important stakeholders that the consultancy needs in order to survive so loosing because of bad behaviour that consultants may display to clients. Such behaviours will make the consultancy to lose its clients something that I believe will create a bad name for the company.

I remember one day we went for an event In Kuala Lumpur where one of our clients was launching their restaurant. I must admit that we arrived late at the event and things we a little messed up because we thought the client has managed to do the name tags for the RSVP but that was not the case. The client was angry and she even told us that we are not doing our job and we should stop making excuses that she said she will make those tags. My supervisor tried to explain by the client was so angry and she did not want to listen to what the supervisor was saying. The worst part was when the client was saying she does not like the handles of goodie bags that we brought. The supervisor admitted the mistake even though we knew that she (client) was the one who bought the bags. We forced to change the handles of the bags and it was not easy because they were too many. The supervisor kept on apologising even though we know it was the client’s mistake to have bought those bags. This was when I realised that by being humble and you will be able to go a long way in the industry.
