Every organisation has its own set of ethics which at times conflict with yours as an individual. Creating room for compromise at times allows for smoother relations between you as an individual and your colleagues/ mates as well as the organisation you are under. As an indivual you have a choice so as to what you are going to become in your new environment, it is either you join the Romans or set your own trend for they also may follow suite.
As an aspiring PR person i know the need an importance of media but did not see eye to eye with my superior in terms of media relations due to the reluctance of media to turn up when invited or bad publishing that the organisation i was at recieved from the media. I knew i was the change i wanted to see in the organisation but the dance of Rome made it difficult to keep my head raised and high. It is crucial to stand for what you believe in so long as it is for a good cause.
Being instructed to send out invites to the media but purposely late as a mean of avoiding coverage was the dance i had to either join or break this made my settling into a new environment handy, being new you get a tag of being called an intruder and regarded to as stuborn if you don't comply.
