Hi again
This week was my second last day at my placement and all the projects I have been working on are in their final stages.
The Croatian Food Festival is an annual event that is held at one of the hotels associated with my work placement The Esplanade Hotels Group (EHG). Being the 16th year that the festival is being held the marketing team has been coming up with creative new ways to make this year’s event bigger and better. This year the opening night will be in the Southern Cross Ballroom at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle (EHF) rather than in the hotel restaurant (The Atrium Garden Restaurant). This is exciting as the guest list can grow and more theming and entertainment can be enlisted.
One of the things I have found interesting is how big the Croatian community is in Perth, I always hear about Italian clubs but never Croatian. There were a number of Croatian sporting associations, social clubs, and churches that the marketing team insure are aware of each event, mainly through direct marketing. As well as attracting new attendees, the department has also arranged promotion on the radio and in print publications. The radio appearance involved Croatian born celebrity chef Dennis Valcich, whom the department prepared question and answers (very PR Media) in order to have a successful outcome from the appearance. I have been helping with designing some of the on the night material, ensuring that Croatian theme is constantly represented as well as insuring EHF logo/official font is included.

Also one of the other projects I have been assisting with is this Sunday, The Esplanade River Suites (ERS) Wedding Open day is a chance for the sales team and hotel to show off what they can offer as a four star venue. The event has been heavily promoted through radio, newspapers and online.
Also coming to the event is the Nova Road Runners for some on the day coverage. I found it quite interesting the process of booking them, you have to provide them with something for free for them to hand out on the day. I had never really thought about it before, but thought it was something Nova sourced themselves.
Below is the flyer/ad for the wedding open day, these are made by the creative agency the hotel hires after creating them with a brief. I like comparing the different flyers and recognising the similarities in the different layouts to attract the different markets.

From your post I can tell that you've been having a fab time at your placement! I'd love to know more about the Croatian Food Festival. Is it going to be held in The Esplanade Hotel through those dates? Or is there a separate venue for it.
And you're very true about the size of the Croatian community in Perth. My close friend is Croatian and has been living in Perth for most of his life, but is still very much in touch with the Croatian culture and he repeatedly tells me it is because of the large size of the community here in Perth.
I believe that compared to many other states, Perth is the ultimate melting pot of the country with people coming from different backgrounds. It's amazing to see the different people that walk through the city on a daily basis!

It is at the Esplanade FREMANTLE property.
The opening night is Friday the 27th and will be really good entertainment and in the ballroom.
Alternatively you can go in through the whole festival, where it is a cheaper but not in the ballroom but in the Atrium Restuarant
