Le Boss: Quick, Quick and Quick!

Hello Everyone!

I had a part-time job for my PR393 placement, working three days a week at Logos Publicity. One of Logos’ clients is DBM, Development Bank of Mauritius and the client asked Logos to conceptualise and advertise TV program within 24 hours. “Le Boss” is a competition encouraging entrepreneurship spirit for those who are in the trading sector. Candidates are invited at the MBC (a Mauritian local channel) to present their respective projects on specific areas including agriculture, breeding, services, manufacturing sector, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or IT in front of an independent jury panel for ten weeks.

The first three after the grand final will receive prizes worth Rs 175,000 where Rs 100,000 will be awarded to the winner, Rs 50,000 to the runner and Rs 25,000 to the one completing the podium. Winners will also receive a loan at low interest rates and will be supported by professionals of the DBM for the advancement of their respective projects.

Conceptualising and launching a TV program within a few hours illustrates the PR policy that a PR person needs to be available 24/7 for his/her clients. Fleet (2010) puts emphasis on how the PR world isn’t a 9-to-5 job and that practitioners will have a last-minute deadline that can’t wait for tomorrow where everything needs to be done to satisfy the clients. Stress and time management are crucial on the spot. Unfortunately, the team didn’t want me to stay till the end of the project that evening for being an intern but the press responses the following day showed the success of the program.

Good luck to you all with your reports.

Cheers,

Aurélie.

Hello Aurelie, I do not know if it is coincidence but I just saw the tv show Le Boss on TV tonight and was asking to myself what was this new show. Well I believe that this new concept of TV show is very interesting and and very innovative in Mauritius and I find it a good way to promote the entrepreneurs, so that they can show their work and talent.
It was good that you could get a glimpse at the conceptualization of such project and you should feel yourself lucky. What is very disappointing from the team of logos, is that they did not let you be a part of it until the end, but maybe this is because of confidential protocols.
It is true to say that PR is a constant work, you never stop working, 24/24 and 7/7, because you always have to meet with the deadlines, work late and under constant stress, because you are dealing with persons who have different personalities or even on big projects that is why a good time management and a strong heart is essential in PR.
I hope this was a nice experience at Logos Aurelie, hope to hear from you soon,
