Reputation Management: it is just like as one cant afford to loose a face

It is very imperative to maintain your reputation within the organization and outside. Hospital clientele today is aware of its rights and the expectations are rising. A feeling is growing among masses that hospitals are not functioning properly as evident from increasing number of patient complaints.

While I was based in Letsholathebe, I realized that most of the time the media was waiting for bad news about the hospital and it will remain their top story, and it was clear that the press and the public appears to be largely against the hospital at a certain degree. In realization of this as interns we picked the reception which is normally the first contact point to project a good image of the hospital, by being courteous, cheerful and above all being efficient in our words. It is hard to ignore the comments of the public about where you work and not say a word, and as a Public Relations student it’s a challenge that fosters one to really dig the value of P.R and give it to the people to lessen complaints. It was a great improvement during my time there, because each and every customer was given attention according to their needs, and this becomes effective when the robe is held on both ends, that is with the staff knowing their value to reputation and image building. This links to my previous posts about the value of corporate social responsibility which can be a congruent ingredient to have a good relation with the public.

Hey Mmabatho.
Great post.
i have gone through your post and i can just say the image of each and every company is something to be kept clean.Just like our faces,we would not like people to maybe splash acid on us,scratch or scrape them.We aways aim to make sure we look good and feel good.Good relations with the public and the media makes this possible for a company. For instance, the hospital that you worked in.If they give their publics their undivided attention, they will praise them and the media will have no choice but to write good things on these improvements. You know what they say about the media, bad news make the headlines. But i am extremely happy that as the young blood,we make a difference in such situations.Really PR is important to clean up all the messes and make sure companies know what they should be doing to keep their names clean.Great post and great job.
