The difference between the public relations job and the human resources job is creativity as opposed to a set out response.
There is a lot of problem solving, involving people. “That person doesn’t wanna do that, how do we deal with this t0 make us both happy”
Not maths problems, people problems, so, it is essential that Public Relations practitioners maintain a high level of interpersonal skills.
You start at square one, move to square 2 and then play it from there, and the ending outcome turns out totally different to how you expected it.
If youre a process person, communications PR isn’t for you, because people don’t fit boxes, they are all different. That’s why engineers suffer with PR, they want to work on a formulaic approach where they go from A to B in a solid maneuver and it’s the same every time.I'd like to hope I have the creativity and the personal skills to succeed in this competitive business.

Hi there Rory, i think your post makes a lot of sense as you are right about Public Relations being a job requiring creativity as opposed to a process person who does accounting, or corporate banking for instance. PR is a rich and diverse field really requiring you to have strong professionalism, creativity, excellent communication and solid writing skills. This basically means that this job is for you if you are not shy and can work under pressure and take initiative and leadership when needs be. It is far from a mundane profession and it leaves room for many exciting projects.
Im sure if you put your mind and enthusiasm to it, you will do very well in this industry! Good Luck
