If you guys have been religiously following my post, you will know my last project is a client launching his book at Malaysia's Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. It was the most eye-opening experience, I was appointed to help out the event with 3 other interns.
Following are my tasks:
- Media Registrations - Create a list for the media/press to register before attending the event. This will ensure the company are able to do follow-ups and evaluations on the coverage.
- Media Name-cards - In order to get to know a person, firstly we need to introduce ourself and get that person's name-card. Especially the medias, they are important to clients when they are the people who writes and publish stories.
- Basic Manners - It is compulsory to have basic manners and dress codes when entering the Palace of Justice. Unhygienic behavior and revealing clothing are not allowed to be in the building.
Before the event:
- Media Invites - I managed to call the local TV stations and papers to attend the launch by an ex-judge after getting help drafting the media invite. A media invite was sent and fax to related media for them to appoint a staff/reporter to present.
- Read - All the documents or prefaces sent by the clients have to be read and understood in order to run the event smoothly.
After the event:
- Monitor news - Every morning, not just the book launch client itself, but also other clients. Newspapers and online news will be 'captured' to get the full news coverage published.
- Compile - After getting all the news coverage, turn them into a mini report that concludes AD Value, PR Value and all the important informations regarding of the news. Then calculate Return of Investment (ROI) at the end of each month.
- Thank you note - In order to maintain a healthy relationship between the media and the PR agency, we need to thank the reporters/crews that attended the event. This will leave them a memorable impression that we appreciates their effort and time spent with us.
After all the hard-work, I'm glad that most of them are rewarded with a valuable experiences that may never happen again. Well, time flies when we are all busy rushing projects and running around for clients. At the end of the day, we are able to gain insight knowledge and all the experiences that are useful in the future.
Here, I would like to thank my supervisors, to point out my mistakes and guide me through this 20days of mine. All their efforts are greatly appreciated and I hope my presence at the company is their gain.
Thank you for those who have been supporting me throughout the internship and have been reading this post.
Sincerely,
Evon Tan Sin Yee
