I was very lucky to secure an internship with the Chamber of Commerce down in Fremantle. Freo is such a lovely place and it's really exciting to be able to work with the variety of businesses the Chamber deals with on a daily basis.
As there is no such PR department in the Chamber, I have been very lucky to work with a variety of people whose positions all involve PR in some way. Tasks have varied from dealing with exporters, working alongside the City of Fremantle to promote the upcoming elections, organising networking events for current members and handling the Chamber's publications such as the website and newsletter.
A very exciting prospect is being involved in the upcoming 'State of the State Corporate Breakfast' where Troy Buswell will be the honorary speaker and plenty of opportunities will arise to utilise the PR skills I have learnt.

Congrats Victoria. I was in the same situation as you with my placement, in the sense that they didn't have a PR department. You just have to be a bit of a jack of all trades. All the best.

How do you feel about doing an assortment of different things in your placement? I feel I could do with some more variety like you seem to have.
